This is one of the largest mushrooms in Latvia. Its cap can reach almost 30 cm in diameter, and its height can be up to 35 cm. Spore powder is white. It grows mostly along the sunny and grassy fringes of forests from July to October. It is very common in Latvia. Edible, even delicious when fresh or fried! Discard the scaly stipe and consume the cap only.

Cepama bez iepriekšējas novārīšanas, ļoti garšīga cepta kā karbonāde. Ēdamas labāk jaunas, pusatvērušās cepurītes. Kātiņi ir sīksti. Var ēst arī jēlu uz sviestmaizes, uzkaisot sāli vai piparus.  Nesajaukt ar balto mušmiri (Amanita virosa), kurai uz cepurītes nav tumšu zvīņu un nav zvīņains kātiņš! Ja jums šo sēni grūti noteikt, tad labāk nevākt, kur nu vēl lietot jēlu!
