Pilsētas atmatene

Syn.: Agaricus edulis
English names: Pavement Agaric, Pavement Mushroom
Deutschen Namen: Scheiden-Egerling, Stadt-Champignon

The size of this mushroom can range from 4 to 10 cm in diameter. This mushroom's flesh has acidulous smell and turns slightly pink when bruised. Spore powder is violet-brown or chocolate-brown. This mushroom likes tamped soil. One can find this mushroom in urban areas, where it sometimes even breaks through tarmac. It also grows along roadsides, in gardens and parks. Its growing season is from May to September. It is common in Latvia. Edible when fried, but should not be collected close to major streets or roads, since mushrooms accumulate heavy metals from the exhaust of passing cars.

Cepama bez iepriekšējas novārīšanas, lietojama marinēšanai, sālīšanai, kaltēšanai. Nevajadzētu vākt urbanizētās vietās, jo sēnes sevī uzsūc cilvēkam kaitīgas vielas no automobiļu izplūdes gāzēm u.tml.
