The size of this mushroom's cap can range from 5 to 12 cm in diameter. Flesh is white, turns vivid red when bruised, has wood scent and light nut taste. Spore powder is dark violet-brown. It grows in spruce and mixed forests from July to October. It is rare in Latvia. Edible, tasty when fried without boiling.

Ļoti garšīga sēne, cepama bez iepriekšējas novārīšanas, kaltējama, marinējama, sālāma. Sastopama reti.
