The
diameter of this mushroom usually varies from 3 to 9 cm.
Unlike Tricholomopsis decora, T. rutilans has reddish tinge on its cap. Spore
powder is white. It grows on stumps in coniferous forests from July to October.
It is quite common in Latvia. Edible, however, it needs to be boiled because of its
bitterness. In some books it is said to be inedible.
Vārāma, novārījums jāizlej. Negaršīga sēne. Dažās grāmatās
teikts, ka neēdama, jo rūgta.
