Its fruitbody can sometimes be very huge - up to 30 cm high! Spore powder is white. It grows in deciduous forests, parks and gardens from April to May. It is rather rare in Latvia. Edible after boiling, very tasty. It is quite similar to Gyromitra esculenta, which can be even deadly poisonous without proper processing.
