The diameter of its cap usually
does not exceed 7 cm, its stalk is similar in size. The margin of its cap is almost transparent when wet. Spore powder is rusty-brown. It grows in
clusters on stumps from May to November. It is
very common in Latvia. It is edible,
very tasty, good for frying, especially in soups (use only caps). There are some poisonous fungi
in Latvia that grow on wood and look quite similar, for example, the
deadly Galerina marginata. However, Kuehneromyces
mutabilis differs in that the surface of the stalk below the ring zone is scaly and not
fibrous.
