The diameter of this mushroom usually
varies from 5 to 30 cm. Spore powder is olive. Its
cap and stalk are more reddish than those of the other forms of Boletus edulis.
It usually grows under pines on sandy soil from June to October. It is common in Latvia. It is the one of the best
edible mushrooms in this country and often can be found in large quantities. It
is very
tasty when fried in butter, or in soups. One can also dry, pickle and
salt this mushroom.
