The diameter of this mushroom usually varies from 3 to 8 cm. Spore powder is olive-brown. The bolete grows under deciduous trees from July to November. It is common in Latvia. Very similar is Xerocomus subtomentosus, which has no distinct cracks on cap's surface. Edible, very tasty. One can fry it without boiling, pickle and dry.
