The
diameter of this fungus usually does not exceed 8 cm. Spore powder is reddish-brown.
This is one of the
earliest spring fungi, growing from late April to late May. It grows in groups,
relatively abundantly in some years, while not at all in some others. It shows up on fallen branches of deciduous trees,
at about the same
time when morels (Morchella spp.) appear. It belongs to Ascomycetes. Inedible.
It is very rare in
Latvia (still not protected by law). However, an unusually rich growth site, yielding up
to about 100 fruiting bodies at a time, was discovered by the team of this
website in 2004.
Neēdama. Latvijā ir ļoti reta
(lai arī nav aizsargājama). Taču 2004. gadā šīs vietnes veidotāji Baldones lauku teritorijā
uzgāja atradni, kurā auga ap 100 augļķermeņiem vienlaikus!.
