The
diameter of this fungus usually varies from 3
to 10 cm. The fruit-body is wrinkled and attached to the ground by the tiny threads. Its inner surface is
yellow-brown, while the outer one is red-brown. Spore powder is
white. The spores of this fungus hide in small sacs, called ascs, which are the reproductive organs
of Ascomycetes. This fungus
grows in burned-out places. It is also a remarkable pine root
parasite. Its growing season is from
August to October. It is very common in Latvia. Inedible.
