This mushroom can be as wide as 25 cm. Spore powder is white. It grows in clusters on deciduous trees from March to December at low air temperatures. It is very common in Latvia. One can also buy the mushrooms of this species in supermarkets. Edible, very tasty when fried without boiling. One can dry, pickle and salt it, too.

Cepama bez iepriekšējas novārīšanas kā karbonāde. To var arī marinēt, kaltēt un sālīt. Šīs sugas sēnes (cita varietāte) ir arī nopērkamas lielveikalos. Sēnes ir garšīgākas, kamēr vēl jaunas. Kātiņi ir sīksti, tos labāk izvārīt zupā.
