Its fruitbody is up to 6 cm wide and egg-shaped at first. After few hours the stalk
with a bad stinking green cap at the top develops. This bad odor attracts flies which eat the green gleba and so disperse the spores. Spore powder
is olive-brown. Edible raw as salads when still egg-shaped. Also used in folk medicine.
Zemestauku augļķermenis sākumā ir olveida, šai sugai - baltā krāsā. No tā dažu stundu laikā izaug kāts, kura gals ir klāts ar smirdīgu masu
(glebu). Parastie zemestauki ir ēdami pat jēli - salātos, kamēr ir olas stadijā.
