The width of its fruiting body
usually does not exceed 5 cm, while its height can reach up to 10 cm. Spore powder is
brown or olive-brown. It is very common in Latvia. It grows on soil in all types
of forest, often in
large dense groups from July to October. If one steps upon an old fungus of that species, it explodes and ejects a small cloud of brown dust
(spores,
in fact). It is edible and delicious when fried without boiling,
tasty when young (e.g., while its flesh is still white).
Ēdami tikai jauni pūpēži ar baltu mīkstumu.
Virsmiziņa jānovelk. Cepami
bez iepriekšējas novārīšanas. Ļoti garšīgi, lietojami kopā ar citām sēnēm
vai zupās.
