The size of this mushroom can range from 2 to 10 cm in diameter. Its fruiting body is thinner and its flesh brighter than those of Lactarius deliciosus. Spore powder is dirty yellow. It is very common in Latvia. Usually it grows in groups on moss or in grass in wet spruce forests from August to October. Edible and very tasty when fried, but it is often full of insect larvae (so called worms).
