This polypore consists of many caps which grow in clusters from a little stalk. The
entire fruiting body can reach up to
60 cm across. The little caps are up to 8 cm wide and 1 cm thick. Pores bruised do not change the color. Spore powder
is beige. It grows at the base of oak's trunks during fall year after
year. It is very
rare and is included in Red Data Book of Latvia. Edible while young, has to be boiled
first.
